Obituary for Margaret Mink

Margaret Fannon Mink, 76, passed away on January 2nd at Reston Hospital with
her loving husband by her side.

Margaret was born on January 13, 1944 in Pennington Gap, Virginia.
to Millard and Marie Fannon.

She attended Pennington Gap High School and continued her education at
Lincoln Memorial University where she received a degree in Education. She was
an educator in the public as well as private school systems for over 10 years
and then served as a Preschool Director for 7 years. She always had a fondness
for children and passion for teaching.

Margaret’s Christian faith and support of the church was also very important to
her. At a young age she taught Sunday School at her local Church. She
continued this well into adulthood. In her retirement years, she combined her
love for church and children by volunteering with the Backpack Buddies
program through Galilee United Methodist Church.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and friend. Spending time with, and caring
for, her family and friends was most important to her. Even during her time of
sickness, she was always making sure others were cared for.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 47 years, Andy Mink; 2 daughters and
their spouses, Ivye and Thomas Tighe, Andrea and Mike Ostrander; 4
grandchildren, Ethan, Liam and Brady Tighe, and Harper Ostrander; and her
brother David Fannon. She is preceded in death by her loving parents.

A small memorial service for family will be held Friday, January 15th at Galilee
UMC in Sterling. In lieu of flowers the family requests making a donation to the
American Cancer Association ( ) or to Galilee
UMC to go towards the Backpack Buddy Program (Galilee UMC, Backpack Buddy
Program, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling, VA 20165).
